I have an idea for a character. He's a Chinese boy named Sheng Yuan who was military trained since early childhood in Shanghai, China (which is a giant urban city) until he has to evacuate to a rural town due to an Exogin attack. During this attack, his mother is killed and his father commits suicide during the journey due to the loss of his wife while Sheng is asleep, which nearly renders him insane. Sheng makes it to the town, with only his father's pistol and the supplies he could take. He is then chosen to pilot a Kyusei due to his physical strength and his hatred for Exogin. He kills a lot Exogino and stuff until his only new friend is killed by an Exogin, which finally drives him insane, and so his mental state has become so bad that it is impossible for him to pilot a Kyusei.
